Diesel Cars

Notes for using the liquid with Diesel vehicles

Before using the liquid with diesel car you must first select the diesel engine option from the “Engine select” option in the “Setup menu”.

Communication on the OBD2 bus with diesel cars less robust than with petrol cars. For instance, when swapping between different gauges, an indeterminant time ofabout 5 seconds silence is required on the OBD2 bus, however in some cases a longerperiod of silence is required.  The liquid will automatically insert a 5 second delay when switching between gaugeshowever in some circumstances a communications error may still occur. It isadvisable to manually wait for a few seconds betweens selecting different displays. If persistent communication errors occur, then extend this delay between selectinggauges. If the unit locks up then try resetting by pushing on the joystick, if this fails thenunplug and replay the OBD2 connector. On some Diesel cars the actual MAF reading is limited to a value less then the actualMAF value, for this reason, the default setting for Diesel cars is to use the Torquecalculation method for BHP.  On some Diesel cars the ECU Torque signal is alsolimited to a value less than the actual torque being generated. These limits areunlikely to be hit with mapped cars but may be hit with cars with updated turbos. The user should experiment with both the MAF and Torque calculation methods to establish the most suitable for their vehicle.
